Dec 1939 – 4(F)./122 began conversion to the Heinkel He 111H.[1]

6 Dec 1939 – FAGr 122 despatched eight He 111s on sorties to the Moray Firth and the Firth of Forth – three of these aircraft were lost, as noted below:-

6 Dec 1939  ?(F)./122 He 111H 3154 Missing on sortie to Firth of Forth and the Moray Firth. Crashed in the sea off Borkum. Fw. H. Petersen, Uffz. H. Weise, Uffz. A. Kenzelmann and Flgr. T. Beckmann all killed.[3]


7 Dec 1939 – 1(F)./122 flew a sortie to the Scottish coast – a convoy was spotted that was subsequently attacked by He 111s of I./KG26.
