1./NAGr. 1

(Unit Code Q1+)

Formation. (November 1944)

Formed on or about 22 November 1944 at Langendiebach/Hesse (ex-1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 121) and equipped with Messerschmitt Bf 109G single-seat reconnaissance aircraft. Plans changed and it was decided to convert the Staffel to the Me 262 jet as will be seen below.[1]

Germany. (December 1944 - May 1945)

10 December 1944: Staffel in transfer from Langendiebach to Herzogenaurach.

10 January 1945: at Herzogenaurach.

5 February 1945: Herzogenaurach under Stab/NAGr. 1.

February 1945: began receiving Messerschmitt Me 262 jets at Herzogenaurach.

21 February 1945: Staka Oblt. Knoll killed in a crash at Landsberg/Lech while taking conversion training.

1 March 1945: Staffel assigned to 15. Fliegerdivision for operations effective this date. Missions were greatly restricted by the critical shortage of fuel and the ever-present danger of enemy fighters catching the pilots while taking off or landing. Those sorties that were flown were mainly along and to the west of the Rhine.

9 March 1945: ordered to be transferred from Herzogenaurach to Rhein-Main.

25 March 1945: now in transfer to Fritzlar-North.

1 April 1945: ordered to move to Zerbst with Me 262s.

6 April 1945: now ready for operations from Zerbst with 7 Me 262 A-1s under 15. Fliegerdivision. Ordered to provide reconnaissance coverage of the central area as far west as Frankfurt/Main.

11 April 1945: transferred to Alt-Lönnewitz.

28 April 1945: shown under Stab/NAGr. 1 with Me 262s. No mention of the Staffel has been found after this date.
