Formation. (July 1944)
Formed on or about 1 July 1944 at Straubing/Bavaria (ex-Nahaufkl.St. 1./Aufkl.Gr. 21) and equipped with Messerschmitt Bf 109Gs outfitted for the reconnaissance role. Some unconfirmed sources give 1 June 1944 as the date of formation at Straubing.[1]
Germany and East Prussia. (July 1944 - May 1945)
August 1944: received its first aircraft, 8 Bf 109 G-8s.
18 September 1944: training and work-up at Straubing.
7 October 1944: Straubing - reported 9 Bf 109 G-8s on strength.
November 1944 – January 1945: at Arys-Rostken/East Prussia under NAGr. 3.
1 December 1944: now with 15 Bf 109 G-8s on strength.
31 December 1944: the Staffel reported no losses to any cause between August and the end of December.
31 January 1945: Bf 109 G-8 failed to return from a sortie, 100%, Oblt. Otto Siefken MIA.
9 February 1945: Bf 109 G-8 failed to return from the Arnswalde area, 100%, pilot MIA.
February 1945: Staffel probably operating from Seerappen under Stab/NAGr. 3.
28 February 1945: Bf 109 G-14 shot down by AA fire south-east of Köfternitz, 100%, pilot safe.
1 March 1945: now at Neubrandenburg airfield/115 km north of Berlin under NAGr. 3 and probably remained there until around 26 April.
6 March 1945: Bf 109 G-8 crash landed at Praust airfield/14 km south of Danzig, 20%.
9 March 1945: Bf 109 G-14 crash landed at Neubrandenburg, 10%.
20 March 1945: Bf 109 G-6 crashed on take-off from Neubrandenburg, 40%.
28 April 1945: withdrawing west under NAGr. 3.
May 1945: withdrew to Schleswig-Holstein during the first days of May and surrendered there on 8 May; located at Leek on 21 May 1945.
