1./SAGr. 127
1./Seeaufklärungsgruppe 127
Unit Code: (6R + )
Formed 18 October 1943 at Tallinn-Ülemiste/Estonia (ex-1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr.127) with Arado Ar 95 and Heinkel He 60 floatplanes, possibly supplemented in 1944 with a few Henschel Hs 126s, and flown by Estonian volunteers. No evidence has been found of a Stab/SAGr. 127 or any Staffeln other than 1. Staffel ever being formed. [1]
North Russia - Gulf of Finland (Oct 1943 – Oct 1944)
10/43 - 10/44: remained at Tallinn-Ülemiste. The Staffel's mission was unchanged from that of 1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr.127 - coastal reconnaissance and anti-submarine patrols over the Gulf of Finland.
17.12.43: (Lfl.1) - Ar 65 biplane flipped over while taking off from Tallinn-Ülemiste, 75%.
04.02.44: FpN officially changed from 1.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 127 to 1./SAGr. 127 this date.
1944: although the Staffel was quasi-independent, it generally operated under the tactical authority of NAGr.5 from around May to October 1944 as Estonia became the front rather than behind the front. [2]
10/44: departed Estonia at the beginning of October as Soviet forces overran the country and sent immediately to Germany (perhaps Pillau in East Prussia) and disbanded. [3]The Staffel's Feldpost number was never deleted, but this was probably nothing more than an administrative oversight.
FpN: 1./SAGr.127 (L 53141).
Staffelkapitän
