Formation. (Feb 45)
Formed on or about 1 February 1945 in Zagreb/Croatia (ex-Stab/Fliegerführer Nordbalkan which, in official documents of this date, was still being referred to as Fliegerführer Kroatien). Responsible for providing tactical air support for Commander-in-Chief Southeast (OB Südost), Pz.AOK 2 and elements of AOK 6 in Croatia and southwestern Hungary under Luftflotte 4.[1]
North Balkans. (Feb 45 - May 45)
Feb – Apr 45: Zagreb - with a single night attack group (NSGr. 7), a tactical reconnaissance group (NAGr. 12) and a few other recce units (NASt. Kroatien, 3.(F)/33, etc.). The Division flew a few reconnaissance sorties each day, but only occasional combat missions could be flown because of the lack of fuel.[2]
9 Apr 45: subordinated: 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 33; Stab, 1., 2./NAGr. 12; Nahaufkl.St. Kroatien; Stab, 1., 2., 3./NSGr. 7 with a total of 57 aircraft, mostly Bf 109s, Hs 126s and Ju 188s.[3]
3 May 45: Stab now at Bruck a.d. Mur/Austria under Luftwaffenkdo. IV after evacuating Zagreb a few days before.[4]
