Formation and Organization. (Sep 38 - Aug 39)
Formed 1 September 1938 at Kamp/15 km WSW of Kolberg on the Baltic in Pomerania (ex-2.(F)/Kü.Fl.Gr. 706) with Do 15s, these being replaced with Do 18s at the beginning of 1939.[1]
North Germany. (Sep 39 - Oct 39)
1 Sep 39: at Kamp with Do 18s under Stab/Küstenfliegergruppe 706.
3-4 Sep 39: transferred from Kamp to Hörnum on the island of Sylt with 12 Do 18s and reassigned to Stab/Kü.Fl.Gr. 306 to begin flying reconnaissance patrols over the North Sea.
7 Sep 39: a 2. Staffel Do 18 crashed on return to Hörnum from a maritime patrol and the crew was reported KIA.
19 Sep 39: Do 18 (8L+EK) attacked by a RAF Anson off Wick in northern Scotland but managed to escape without damage.
26 Sep 39: Staffel flew a Do 18 mission in search of British Home Fleet units in the Great Fisher Bank area.
17 Oct 39: Do 18 (8L+DK) shot down by RAF Gladiator biplane fighters off the Northumberland coast of northern England.
25 Oct 39: in the comprehensive reorganization order for the entire Küstenflieger arm of this date the Staffel was incorporated into 2.(F)/Kü.Fl.Gr. 906 and ceased to exist.
