Formation (July 1943)

Formed 15 July 1943 at Tromsø/N Norway (ex-3.(F)/Küstenfliegergruppe 906). This formation order was changed on 10 August 1943 and 3.(F)/906 replaced by 1.(F)/SAGr. 130. Equipped with Blohm und Voss BV 138C flying boats. [1]



Norway

10.8.43: (Lfl.5) - BV 138 damaged while being catapulted at Tromsø, 10%.

30.9.43: now at Stavanger-Sola/See with a total of 11 BV 138s and a small detachment (Kommando) at Bergen with 2 Arado Ar 196s. [2]

13.10.43: (Lfl.5) - BV 138C-1 collided with a Bf 109 south of Mandal, 100%, Oblt.Dietrich Forke (pilot) + 4 killed.

16.11.43: at Stavanger-Sola/See with 6 BV 138s and 3 Ar 196s, and a detachment at Bergen with 2 Ar 196s.[3]

27.12.43: (Lfl.5) - BV 138C-1 shot down in P1.Qu.05 East 5933 by a fighter from 144 Squadron RAF, 100%, 5 KIA.

20.1.44: at S-Sola/See with 5 BV 138s and Ar 196s, and the Bergen detachment with 4 Ar 196s. [4]


13.2.44: (Lfl.5) - BV 138 based at Sola shot down into the sea off NW Norway by a Mosquito from 333 (Norwegian) Squadron RAF, 100%, Oblt. Horst Schröder (observer) + 4 KIA.

29.2.44: S-Sola/See and Bergen with a total of 13 BV 138s and Ar 196s.[5]

22.3.44: as above for 29 February with a total now of 15.[6]

30.3.44: (Lfl.5) - Ar 196 crashed into the sea off NW Norway, 100%, 2 injured.

3.6.44: S-Sola/See and Bergen with a total of 14 BV 138s and Ar 196s.[7]

14.9.44: S-Sola/See with BV 138s, one or two BV 222s and several Ar 196s, and the detachment at Bergen with Ar 196s.[8]

11.10.44: Staffel's BV 138 complement being considered for transfer from Stavanger to Pillau/East Prussia for reconnaissance operations over the eastern Baltic under Luftflotte 6; by 15 October the transfer had been made and the BV 138s were operating from Pillau. The BV 222(s) and the Ar 196s remained in Norway.[9]

6.11.44: S-Sola/See and Bergen with Ar 196s.[10]

25.12.44: Stavanger-Sola/See under Fliegerführer 4 with Ar 196s.[11]

1/45: Staffel ordered disbanded (FpN deleted 12 Feb 1945).
