Formation and History. (May 42 - Sep 43)

Formed 1 May 1942 at Metz/France using personnel taken from Stab/Jagdfliegerführer Mitte. Controlled night fighter defenses in eastern France and southwest Germany under XII. Fliegerkorps. Stab remained at Metz. Renamed 4. Jagddivision on 15 September 1943 with operational effect from 15 October.^[1]
