Arado-Kette Ostnorwegen


Formation. (Aug 41)

Formed 25 August 1941 with 3 Ar 196s taken from 1./Bordfliegergruppe 196 at Wilhelmshaven and transferred to Norway as an autonomous formation to carry out coastal patrol and convoy escort missions. [1]


Central Norway. (Sep 41 - 1945)

1 Dec 42: attached to 2./Kü.Fl.Gr. 406 under Fliegerführer Nord (West) and operating from Ålesund and Trondheim-Hommelvik.[2]

1 Jul 43: as above for 1 Dec 42.

30 Sep 43: Ålesund with 3(2) Ar 196s, but now attached to 1.(F)/SAGr. 131.[3]

29 Feb 44: Ålesund with 5(4) Ar 196s under Fliegerführer Nord (West).[4]

3 Jun 44: Ålesund with 5(5) Ar 196s.[5]

Aug 44: transferred to Trondheim-Hommelvik in August or early September and reassigned to Fliegerführer 5/Komm.Gen.d.Dt.Lw. in Norwegen. Remained there until disbanded in early 1945.[6]
