Aufklärungsgruppe (H) Nord



Formed 24 January 1942 (ex-Koluft AOK 9), probably at Vyazma or Vyazma-Gradina to the northeast of Smolensk on central sector of the front in Russia and assigned to VIII. Fliegerkorps. Initially attached to the Stab were: 2.(H)/12, 3.(H)/21, 2.(H)/23, Stabsbildabteilung (Stabia) 9, Kurierstaffel 8 and Ln.Betr.Kp.(H)(mot) 5, the latter providing signals support. The Stab was authorized 5 officers, 6 NCOs, 14 enlisted, 3 liaison aircraft, 5 trucks, 4 cars and 1 motorcycle. The Stab, with headquarters in Vyazma, was established as part of a reorganization designed to better support the desperate defensive fighting along the front held by 9th Army, 3rd Panzer Army and 4th Panzer Army deployed to the east of the line Rzhev-Vyazma. Renamed Stab/Nahaufklärungsgruppe 5 on or about 18 April 1942.[1]
