Aufklärungsgruppe 88 [PREWAR]

Formed November 1936 (initially as a single Staffe1) for service in Spain as a component of the Legion Condor, Germany’s military assistance to Franco’s Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War. Expanded to two Staffeln in spring 1937, these equipped with Dornier Do 17s, Heinkel He 45s and Henschel Hs 126s. Returned to Germany March 1939 and disbanded April 1939.[1]
