Aufkl. Gr. 122 Jan 1945
Jan 1945 – 5(F)./122 transferred to Jesau/East Prussia toward the end of January and was located there on 4 February.[1]
2.(F)/122 doubled it’s strength after a few days but this remained at a low level until the end of the war.
1 Jan 1945 – 2.(F)/122 flew a sortie in the morning – this was F6 + AK crewed by Hennig and Berger.AWI
2 Jan 1945 – 2.(F)/122 again sent out F6+AK mid-morning for a 2 hr sortie – this time crewed by Hptm Dietze and Fw. Bendorf. AWI
3 Jan 1945 – a new Me 410B-3 was delivered from Riem, this was BR+RP (W. Nr. 150096) which saw service as F6+KK.AWI
2.(F)/122 appears to have been inactive for the period 4-19 January 1945. Seven operational sorties were flown during the month, five by two aircraft and crews ( Me 410B-3 W.Nr. 190169 F6+NK (Oblt.van den Daele and Uffz Blaschek) and Me 410B-3 W.Nr. 190096 (Fw Bayer and Uffz Lensing) the second aircraft redeployed to Bergamo on the 20th January 1945.[2]
10 Jan 1945 - The Luftwaffe Order of Battle recorded the following:-
Aufklärungsgruppe 122 under the control of Luftflotte 2 with a mixed stock of Me 410 and Ju 88/188 aircraft – 16 on strength of which 13 were servicable.
Aufklärungsgruppe 122 under the control of Luftflotte 6 with a mixed stock of Me 410 and Ju 88 aircraft – 28 on strength of which 23 were servicable.
Aufklärungsgruppe 122 under the control of Luftflotte Reich with Ju 188 aircraft – 9 on strength of which 7 were servicable.
5(F)./122 reported 15(14) Me 410s on strength.[3]

21 Jan 1945 – 2(F)./122 sent an Me 410 (F6+NK) out over the Ligurian Sea. At the time of it’s return there was USAAF (P-38) activity in the vicinity of Bergamo but the crew of Oblt Herbert van den Daele and Uffz Blaschek got down safely.AWI
Approximately 30 minutes before the return of F6+NK, 2.(F)/122 sent out another aircraft F6+KK (W. Nr. 150096) – this was the Me 410 B-3 that arrived from Riem on 3 Jan 1945 – for an 85 minute sortie crewed by Bayer and Lensing.AWI
22 Jan 1945 – 2.(F)/122 sent out a morning sortie, possibly in the direction of Parma, this was F6+NK flown by Oblt Herbert van den Daele and Uffz Blaschek – the sortie lasted for about 90 minutes. F6+KK was sent out in the afternoon but aborted after a short time due to problems with the armament.AWI
23 Jan 1945 – it was intended to send out sorties on this day but a combination of bad weather and enemy activity precluded this.
29 Jan 1945 – Allied strafing attack on Bergamo by P-47s (possibly of the 57th FG).
