Oct 43 -Following the evacuation of the Kuban bridgehead by German forces, 4(F)./122 transferred from Sarabus to Nikolayev-East.[1]

5 Oct 1943 – German troops complete the evacuation of Corsica.

Aufklgr.122 located at Perugia.[2]

Serviceability of aircraft for Stab(F)./122 on evening for 6th Oct: - 2 Ju88 and 2 Me 410.[3]

7 Oct 1943 – 1(F)./122 now located at Athens-Kalamaki in Greece under FAGr.4.[4]

2(F)./122 was transferred to Perugia/C Italy and remained there through April 1944. Shortly after arriving, a second Arado Ar 240 (Werknummer 004) was received for evaluation. During its first operational sortie 8 days later it developed engine trouble and had to be sent back to Oranienburg/Germany for repairs.[5]

12 Oct 1943 – An aircraft from 5(F)./122 photographed the river crossing at Estjany, north of the town of Proletarij (Proletariy) (target code SU 43 19000, Pl. Qu 35 Ost 19 627, 58.26.40 N 31.41.40 E).[6]

15 Oct 1943 – 5(F)./122 photographed the airfield Dubno-Andreapol III (target code Su 10 4673, Pl. Qu. 35 Ost 27356, located at 56.38.05 N 32.17.10E).[8]

One member of 1.(F)/122 was injured during a bombing attack on Kalamaki.[9]

16 Oct 1943 – 5(F)./122 photographed Predportovaya, Stantsiya, Leningrad(location 59°48'47.7"N 30°17'18.6"E)[10] and other areas south of Leningrad finishing at Maloye Yeglino (co-ordinates 59°40'07.2"N 30°44'55.9"E)[11], there were at least 111 frames in this series.

17 Oct 1943 - One member of 1.(F)/122 was injured during a bombing attack on Kalamaki.[12]

18 Oct 1943 – At 15.55 hrs an aircraft of 1(F)./122 ( Beobachter - Lt. Burkhard) photographed two British destoyers off the Turkish coast (23 Ost – 7876).[13]

1.(F)/122 had one member of the unit killed at Skopie rail station (Bulgaria) during a low-level attack.[14]

21 Oct 1943 1(F)./122 Ju 88A-4trop F6+PH 5745 Failed to return from sortie to the SE of Rhodes, 100%, Lt Christoff Hammann and three crew MIA.[18]including Uffz Kurt Backenhausen[19]
21 Oct 1943 2(F)./122 Me 410 F6+OK 100114 Failed to return - no details, 100%, 2 crew, consisting of Ofw Ernst Oschmann(F) and Uffz Heinz Pawlik (Bf), missing.[20]

26 Oct 1943 – 5(F)./122 transferred from Luga-Gostkino to Pskov-South on or about this date.[21]
