Ergänzungs-Küstenfliegerstaffel (See)

Formation and History. (Oct 44 - Apr 45)

Formed 3 October 1944 at Kamp by renaming 4./Fl.Erg.Gr. (See), which was still part of the formation that had been temporarily designated Ergänzungs-Küstennahaufklärungs- und Bordfliegerstaffel on 7 August 1944. Equipped with Ar 196s, the Staffel transferred to Pütnitz in November and remained there until it was dissolved in April 1945. It was responsible for providing replacement crews to units flying the Ar 196 and also flew operational maritime reconnaissance sorties over the western Baltic. From 8 January 1945 until it was dissolved it was subordinated to II./Erg.Aufkl.Gr. 1, although it does not appear to have been formally incorporated into that Gruppe. At the beginning of March it was assigned to help evacuate personnel from along the Baltic coast of Pomerania as Soviet forces began clearing the area east and north of Stettin.[1]
