Fliegerführer XI. Fliegerkorps

(FpN: L 16614)

Fliegerführer:

Gen.Maj. Gerhard Conrad (21 Dec 40 - 31 Jan 43)

Maj. Walter Kiess (acting?) (1 Feb 43 - ? )

Formation. (Jan 41)

Formed o/a 1 January 1941 at Berlin-Tempelhof as a component of Gen.Kdo. XI. Fliegerkorps. Initial plans proposed the consolidation of all Ju 52 transport units under the Fliegerführer, but this was not carried out. In practice, the Stab was used to control the operations of those air units directly subordinated to XI. Fliegerkorps (LLG 1, LLG 2, G.S.Kdos. 1 and 2, Erg.Gruppen (S) 1 and 2, and Erg.Gruppe für Fallschirmkampfbeobachter). During its existence, the Stab or a command post dispatched by the Stab accompanied German airborne forces (Fallschirmjäger) on all of their operations, maneuvers and other major movements, beginning with the 20 May 1941 invasion of Crete.[1]
