Formation and History. (May 43 - Jun 43)
This was the provisional name for the disbanded Stab/Fliegerkorps Tunis during the 4 to 6 week wind-down period immediately after the surviving staff personnel were evacuated from Tunisia, and during which they awaited reassignment orders. Located in Sicily, it was ordered to transfer to Braunschweig where its final disposition would be determined. It was mention in three separate personnel reassignment orders issued by the Luftwaffen-Personalamt as noted below:
8 Jun 43: Obstlt. Walter Fehmer reassigned from it to Stab/XII. Fl.Korps.
11 Jun 43: Maj. Ludwig Fuchs reassigned from it to Stab/Lw.-Kdo. Südost. Until 13 May 43, Fuchs was the chief of staff of Fliegerkorps Tunis.
Jun 43: Maj. Walter Hummel was TDY (on temporary duty) from it to Stab/VIII. Fl.Korps.
On 16 June, the official order for disbanding it was issued as Genst.Gen.Qu.2.Abt. Az.11b12.12 Nr. 10781/43 geh. (IIA) and Luftwaffen-Befehlshaber Mitte was made responsible for carrying it out, which suggests that the actual process took place in Germany.[1]
