Formation. (Sep 43)
Formed 15 September 1943 at Zeist/Holland near Utrecht by re-designating Gen.Kdo. Fliegerkorps XII. Another source says the re-designation was ordered on 15 September, but did not become effective until 15 October and analysis of the evidence supports this statement. Commanded all fighter forces employed over the Reich against USAAF and RAF day and night bombers.[1]
Air Defense - Reich. (Sep 43 - Jan 45)
- Had an alternate command post (Ausweichsgefechtsstand, later as Meldekopf) that was eventually located in Berlin with separate Feldpost number L 20524 (11 Nov 43 - 7 Feb 44).[2]
- Had an assigned technical company (Techn.Komp. des I .Jagdkorps), but it is believed that this was actually Ln.-Techn.Kp.(Bord) l or 2, which are covered elsewhere.[3]
15 Oct 43: Stab at Zeist - subordinated 1.-3.Jagddivisionen.[4]
Jan 44: combat command post (battle headquarters) at Zeist, with admin and supply echelon in Berlin.[5]
Mar 44: transferred to Braunschweig-Querum, with a forward CP remaining behind at Deelen/Holland.[6]
May 44: Braunschweig bombed - HQ building housing the Stab received a direct hit, forcing a transfer to Treuenbrietzen/50 km SSW of Berlin over the next week or two.[7]
25 Sep 44 and Nov 44: Stab at Treuenbrietzen.[8]
26 Jan 45: ordered disbanded this date, with all responsibilities to be taken over by Stab/IX. Fliegerkorps (J). The effective date of this changeover is given as 17 February 1945.[9]
Flugbereitschaft Gen.Kdo. Jagdkorps I

Probable date of formation 15 Sep 43 and probable date of disbandment fall 1944 or Jan 45.
No loss entries have been found for the Staffel, but on 29 Feb 44 it was based at Fp Soesterberg/12 km ENE of Utrecht in Holland with an amazing assortment of aircraft: 1 Bf 109 T-1, 1 Ju 88 C-6, 1 He 111 H-6, 2 Fi 156C, 1 Bü 181B, 1 Fw 44J and 2 Fw 58C.[10]
