Gruppenfliegerstab 12


Formed about late March/early April 1941 for the attack on the Soviet Union that began on 22 June 1941.[1]

South Russia

18.6.41: SE Poland under Koluft Panzergruppe 1/Heeresgruppe Süd - assigned to support III. Armeekorps (mot.), which was a Panzerkorps but not officially so named until summer 1942, along a line of advance from the Galicia district of SE Poland into western Ukraine via Uman and Kiev, and then southeast to Rostov (November 1941). Initially assigned were 4.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 13, 5.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 14 and 4.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 22.

1.2.42: at Poltava/Ukraine under Koluft Heeresgruppe Süd with 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 10, 2.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 22, 1.(F)/Nacht and Kurierstaffel 4. Reconnaissance activity during the winter slowed down due to the weather conditions.

19.4.42: on or about this date renamed Stab/Fernaufklärungsgruppe 4 (FAGr.4).
