Gruppenfliegerstab 21
Formed about March 1941 in Poland (ex-Stab/Aufkl.Gr. 21) for the attack on the Soviet Union that began on 22 June 1941.[1]
Central Russia. (Jun 41 - Apr 42)
21.6.41: initially assigned were 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 12, 7.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 13 and 2.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 32.
22.6.41: Suwałki (Sudauen) area in NE Poland under Koluft Panzergruppe 3/Army Group Center assigned to support LVII Motorized (later Panzer) Corps along a direction of attack through Lithuania to Vilnius and then into Belorussia toward Vitebsk and Smolensk (16 July).
25.6.41: Fi 156 C-1 belonging to Gruppenfliegerkette 21 crash landed at an unreported location, 20%.
6.7.41: at Glebokie (Glubokoye)/NE Poland to the SW of Polotsk in support of LVII Motorized Corps with 7.(H)/13, 2.(H)/32 and 2.(F)/33.
10.41: after resting in the Smolensk area, it is believed to have taken part in the offensive toward Moscow but in what capacity is not known. If it was still in support of LVII Motorized Corps, then the line of advance toward Moscow would have been from the southwest via the Kaluga area.
19.4.42: renamed Stab/Nahaufklärungsgruppe 14, possibly in the Kursk area.
