Formed about late March or early April 1941 (new) for the attack on the Soviet Union that commenced on 22 June 1941.[1]

North Russia and Central Russia. (Jun 41 - Apr 42)

21.6.41: initially assigned were 2.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 23, 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 23 and 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr. 31.

22.6.41: East Prussia under Koluft Panzergruppe 4/Army Group North - assigned to support XXXXI. Armeekorps (mot) along a line of advance from East Prussia across Lithuania to Daugavpils (Dünaburg)/Latvia ( 26 June), Pskov and Luga on the approach to Leningrad (14 July) and the drive on Leningrad (8 August to 8 September). In the second half of September, the Stab transferred with the XXXXI Motorized Corps to the central sector of the front for the attack on Moscow under Panzergruppe 3 advancing from the Vyazma area. Following the Russian counteroffensive in December, the Stab and the Corps withdrew first to the Velizh area (January-February 1942) and then returned to the front in the Rzhev sector. By April 1942, however, the Gruppenfliegerstab had been removed from its association with the Corps and was located at either Smolensk or Vyazma.

4.8.41: Fi 156 liaison plane assigned to the Stab crash landed at Kadkovo (Kaskovo?), 40%.

4.42: renamed Stab./FAGr 2 on or about 19 April 1942.
