Formation and History. (Jul 43 - Aug 43)
Formed July 1943 at Naples as a result of the Allied invasion of Sicily. Responsible for fighter operations over the southern half of Italy under Luftflotte 2. The small Stab is believed to have been disbanded at the end of August or beginning of September 1943. Oberst Lützow, at the same time, was Inspekteur der Jagdflieger in Berlin so this may have been a concurrent appointment or an error.[1]
