Formation and History. (1942)

Reference to a unit with this designation appeared in an official personnel assignments order issued by the Luftwaffenpersonalamt dated 4 August 1942. It is believed to be either a reserve “paper” transport group that would be activated when the need arose using aircraft and crews from the FFS C and BFS schools, or it was a typographical error on the part of the Luftwaffenpersonalamt. The order stated that it was serviced by (or to be serviced by) Reserve Flughafenbetriebskp. 4/I (Reserve Airfield Servicing Company 4/I). The numeric “4/I” indicates that it originated in (or was to originate in) the area under the authority of Luftflotte I, i.e., East Prussia.
