Ordered formed c. 26 August 1939 at Oppeln in eastern Germany with 6 aircraft for assignment to AOK 14.[1]

7 Sep 39: Staffel transferred from Kraków to Mankendorf (not located) for operations under Koluft 14. [2]
1 Oct 39: W 34 crashed while taking off from Rudna airstrip (NW of Kraków in S Poland?), 50%.[3]
Mar 40: now assigned to Panzergruppe Kleist for the attack on France through the Ardennes toward Sedan on the Meuse River. [4]
30 Aug 40: Belgium/N France area temporarily assigned to Koluft/AOK 9 and attached to XV. Armeekorps (mot) for Operation “Seelöwe” (“Sealion”), the planned invasion of England.[5]
9 Sep 40: W 34 Hau (W/Nr. 1352, GB+NT) force landed near Oldenburg?) due to engine trouble, 40%. [6]
14 Feb 41: Fi 156 flew into the ground at Kecskemét/C Hungary, 90%.
16 Feb 41: Fi 156 force landed at Kecskemét, 90%.
Apr 41: took part in the Balkan Campaign under Panzergruppe 1. [7]
10 May 41: arrived at Fp. Oels in Silesia for servicing prior to moving forward for the attack on Russia.[8]
19 Jul 41: Go 145 damaged taxiing at Fp. Polonnoye (Polonne)/81 km NW of Berdichev, 55%.
3 Oct 41: Fi 156C-1 crash landed at Novo-Moskovsk, 100%, 1 injured.
6 Oct 41: Bf 108 crash landed at Fp. Zaporozhye, 25%.
20 Oct 41: South Russia assigned to Koluft/Pz.AOK 1.[9]
22(23?) Oct 41: W 34 crash landed at Fp. Mariupol, 50%.
26 Dec 41: Fi 156 crashed near Mariupol, 100%, 1 killed.
13 Jun 42: 3 Fi 156s damaged at Pavlograd/62 km E of Dnepropetrovsk, 10% to 50%.
29 Jul 42: Staffel at Krasnyy Salin located along the Manych River/SE of Rostov with Pz.AOK 1 for the advance into North Caucasia.[10]
10 Aug 42: Hs 126 crashed at Fp. Konstantinovka in the Donets Basin due to engine trouble, 20%.
22 Aug 42: Fi 156 damaged in unspecified accident at Fp. Alexandrovskaya (not located), 30%.
18 Jan 43: Fi 156 damaged during a storm at Fp. Armavir/N Caucasia, 50%.
1 Mar 43: Staffel based at Dnepropetrovsk-South.[11]
4 Apr 43: Fi 156 shot down by a fighter at Kramatorskaya in the Donets Basin, 100%, Oblt. Günther Scholz + 1 WIA.
1-15 Oct 43: in C Ukraine - renamed 23./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2.[12]
