Kurierstaffel 12


Formation. (c. Jan 40)

Initially formed c. May1940 at Warsaw/Poland for assignment to Oberbefehlshaber Ost (Oberost), the occupation command in Poland, but a few weeks later it was sent to France instead and assigned to AOK 18.[1]


Poland, France and North Russia. (1940 - Oct 43)

2 Jul 40: Fw 58 crashed near Chateaudun in heavy fog, 100%, passengers Oberst Otto Abernetty, Obstlt. Loch plus another killed, 1 injured.[2]

4 Jul 41: N Russia assigned to Koluft/AOK 18.[3]

20 Aug 41: Ar 66 accidently shot up by German Flak near Narva, 80%, 1 wounded.

10 Oct 41: 2 Fi 156s bombed on the ground at Fp. Moshna/125 km W of Vyazma, both 30%. (This is on the central sector of the front so it may be an erroneous entry in the Loss Reports).

Jan 42: based at Siverskaya/65 km S of Leningrad under Koluft/AOK 18.[4]

26 Jan 42: Fi 156 bombed on the ground at Fp. Siverskaya, 100%.

27 Jan 42: Junkers W 34 (W. Nr. 1368) 50% damage in an emergency landing at Dünaburg-West (Daugavpils/SE Latvia), due to engine failure. [5]

Mar 42: Siverskaya.[6]

Jul 42: assigned to Verbindungsgruppe Heeres Gruppe Nord. a temporary courier group, along with Kurierstaffel 9 and Kurierstaffel 12 between Jul 42 and Sep 43. [7]

26 Jan 43: Siverskaya attached to AOK 18.[8]

26 Jun 43: at Siverskaya.[9]

1-15 Oct 43: Siverskaya attached to AOK 18 - renamed 30./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2.[10]
