Kurierstaffel 2


Formation. (Aug 39)

Initially formed approx. 26 August 1939 with 6 aircraft for assignment to AOK 4 at Jastrow (West Prussia, then Pomerania in 1938, then Northwest Poland in 1945).[1]


West and North Russia. (Sep 39 - Oct 43)

Oct 39: following the campaign in Poland, it was ordered to the West to support AOK 16.

14 Mar 40: Fi 156 damaged at Fp. Wengerohr/near Wittlich in the Eifel area during a storm, 30%.[2]

30 Aug 40: Roubaix/NE France assigned to Koluft/AOK 16.[3]

21 Sep 40: W 34 (TI+NI) force landed near Roubaix due to bad weather and engine trouble, 5%.

4 Nov 40: Fi 156C damaged at Roubaix during a storm, 25%.

May-Jun 41: transferred to East Prussia for the forthcoming attack on Russia.

21 Jun 41: Insterburg area/East Prussia assigned to Koluft/AOK 16.

21 Jul 41: W 34 damaged taxiing at Opochka/SSE of Pskov, 10%.

10 Aug 41: Ju 52 damaged taxiing at Fp. Königsberg-Devau/East Prussia, 20%.

1 Oct 41: Fi 156 force landed near Barkim, 25%.

31 Oct 41: Fi 156 C-1 hit by artillery fire near Novgorod, 20%.

17 Nov 41: Fi 156 damaged undercarriage near Novgorod, 30%.

Jan 42: based at Dno and still under Koluft/AOK 16.[4]

18 Mar 42: Ju 52 shot up near Kholm, 15%, 1 WIA.

5 May 42: Fi 156 crashed while taking off from Fp. Dno, 30%.

Jul 42: provisionally assigned to Verbindungsgruppe/Heeresgruppe Nord along with Kurierstaffeln 9 and 12 (to Sep 43). [5]

26 Jan 43: Dno and still in support of AOK 16.[6]

26 Jun 43: at Dno.[7]

1-10 Oct 43: Dno attached to AOK 16 - renamed 29./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2 a few days later.[8]
