Ordered formed c. 26 August 1939 with 6 aircraft for assignment to AOK 1 at Bad Kreuznach.[1]

30 Aug 40: Belgium/NE France area assigned to Koluft AOK 16 and assigned to support XXXXI. Armeekorps (mot), which was on standby for Operation “Seelöwe” (Sealion), the planned invasion of England.[2]
Apr 41: reassigned to Koluft/AOK 17. [3]
21 Jun 41: attack on the Soviet Union assigned to Koluft/AOK 17.[4]
30 Jun 41: Fi 156 (BV+GJ) crashed in SE Poland – no details, 100%, pilot killed.[5]
25 Sep 41: W 34 crash landed at Fp. Uman/W Ukraine, 40%, 1 injured.
27 Oct 41: Ju 52 struck an obstacle at Fp. Breslau-Gandau, 80%, 4 injured.
25 Jan 42: Bü 131 demolished at Fp. Lozovaya/105 km NE of Dnepropetrovsk to prevent it from falling into enemy hands, 100%.
17 May 42: Fi 156 shot down by a fighter at Ivanopolye/51 km N of Stalino in the Donets Basin, 100%, 2 WIA.
10 Jun 42: Fw 58 strafed on the ground during low-level enemy raid on Fp. Artemovsk in the Donets Basin, 100%.
6 Aug 42: Fi 156 force landed at Fp. Rostov due to technical problems, 40%, pilot injured.
Jan 43: still assigned to AOK 17.
6 Jan 43: Fi 156 damaged undercarriage at Nevinnomyssk/44 km S of Stavropol in North Caucasia, 50%.
15 Jun 43: a pilot from the Staffel reported WIA during a Russian air attack on Kerch in Eastern Crimea.
1-15 Oct 43: still in South Russia - renamed 21./Fliegerverbindungsgeschwader 2.[6]
