Formation. (Aug 39)
Formed (or mobilized) c. 26 August 1939, probably at Berlin-Staaken, with 9 aircraft to perform courier services for the Commander-in-Chief and Supreme Command of the Luftwaffe. Berlin-Staaken remained its permanent station to the end of the war. Aircraft assigned included: the Dornier Do 215, Siebel Fh 104, Bf 108, Fieseler Fi 156, Focke-Wulf Fw 190, Junkers Ju 52/3m, Junkers Ju 88 and Siebel Si 204. [1]
Germany. (Sep 39 - May 45)
4 Jul 40: Ju 52 bombed on the ground during an RAF raid on Brussels-Evere, 10%.[2]
22 Jun 41: invasion of the Soviet Union - Kurierstaffel Ob.d.L. together with Verbindungsstaffel Ob.d.L. formed the Verbindungskommando Ob.d.L.[3]
Dec 41: Kurierstaffel Ob.d.L. at Berlin-Staaken - handed over 5 Ju 52s toward the forming of KGr.z.b.V. 400.[4]
27 Feb 42: Ju 52 bombed on the ground at Fp. Demyansk and slightly damaged. This aircraft may have been on loan to another unit for the duration of the Demyansk airlift.
2 Jul 42: Ju 52 struck the ground and crashed near Venice/Italy, 90%, 1 crew member killed and 2 injured, plus 2 passengers killed.
4 Dec 42: Ju 52 crashed near Fahrenkrug/c. 30 km WNW of Lübeck during a ferry flight, 100%, 1 killed.
14 Apr 43: Bf 108 B-1 force landed near Buchow/24 km W of Berlin due to engine failure, 15%.
9 Jun 43: Ju 88 A-14 crash landed at Graz/Austria, 60%.
21 Jun 43: Fw 190 crashed at Berlin-Staaken due to engine failure, 100%, pilot killed.
29 Jul 43: Si 204 force landed at Klein-Fehrmut (not located) due to engine fire, 100%.
16 Dec 43: Ju 52 force landed near Berlin-Werder, 15%, 1 injured.
29 Jan 45: unidentified aircraft belonging to the Staffel shot up by AA fire at Züllichau (84 km NE of Cottbus?), under 10%, 2 WIA.
3 Feb 45: Fi 156 C-3 destroyed on the ground during a low-level enemy attack – location not reported, 100%.
22 Feb 45: Ju 52 struck the ground and crashed near Windau (Ventspils)/NW Latvia, 90%.
22 Apr 45: Kurierstaffel OKL transferred from Berlin-Staaken to Berlin-Gatow this date, and then on 24 April its 15 Ju 52s, 2 Fi 156s and 1 Bf 108 were ordered to evacuate the capital and fly to airfields in South Germany.[5]
