Formation and History. (Apr 36 - Oct 37)
Formed 1 April 1936 in Hannover as Luftgaukommando 9 (with an Arabic number). Luftgaukdo. 9 covered the Hannover-Braunschweig-Anhalt area in northwestern Germany. On 1 September 1936 Luftgaukdo. 9 was renamed Luftgaukommando Braunschweig (reinforced) and on 6 October 1936 it became Luftkreiskommando VII (Braunschweig). It was re-established (new) on 1 April 1937 in Hannover. As a result of a reorganization on 12 October 1937, Luftgaukdo. 9 was re-designated Luftgaukommando XI (Hannover).[3]
