Formation and History. (Apr 41 - Nov 42?)

Formed o/a 10 April 1941 for the forthcoming attack on the Soviet Union. Initially assigned to provide logistical support for Luftflotte l’s operations through Lithuania, Latvia and into North Russia.[1]


North Russia and Sicily

3 Jul 41: transferred from Kaunas/Lithuania to Daugavpils/Latvia.

c.Dec 41: transferred from the Luftflottenkdo. 1 area of operations to Sicily around this date to take over responsibility the ground organization there, which was to begin expanding very rapidly with the reassignment of Luftflotte 2 and II. Fliegerkorps from Central Russia to Sicily and the Central Mediterranean area.

21 Feb 42: Stab of Luftgaukdo. z.b.V. 10 at Catania/Sicily.

Jul 42: Stab still at Catania.

4 Aug 42: Catania.

c.Dec 42: disbanded? This Luftgaustab is poorly documented and more information is needed.
