Formation and History. (c.Feb 40 - May 41)

Formed about February or March 1940 in western Germany (ex-Luftgaustab z.b.V. 13) in preparation for the attack on France and the Low Countries that commenced on 10 May. Under Luftflotte 3, provided forward logistical support as the front swept westward across eastern France. Stab in Soissons on 14 June and then moved to Romilly-sur-Seine on 18 June. On 16 July 1940, after the conclusion of the campaign, the Stab was in the Paris area under Luftflotte 3 and subordinated Airfield Regional Commands (Kdo.Flughafenbereiche) 120 (Melun) and l/VII (Chartres). It is believed to have remained in France until spring 1941, probably on standby status and relatively inactive. On 7 May 1941 the Stab was at or near Oels in Silesia and shortly thereafter it appears to have been incorporated into Luftgaustab z.b.V. 4.[1]
