Formation and History. (Apr 45 - May 45)
Formed 17 April 1945 at Hasenpoth (Aizpute)/NW Latvia (ex-Stab/Luftflottenkdo. 1). By 30 April the headquarters and staff had evacuated Kurland (NW Latvia) and relocated to Wismar in N Germany. From there, it continued to exercise command over all Luftwaffe forces still in the Kurland pocket, including the evacuation by air and ship of as many personnel as possible to prevent them from falling into Russian hands. On 2 May the Stab transferred to Kiel-Holtenau where it surrendered to British forces a few days later.[1]
