Formed Apr-May 1943 in North Russia by redesignating Lw.-Bau-Btl. 16/IV and reorganizing with non-German labor volunteers and a small German cadre. Had a Stab and 1. – 3. Kp. plus a Geräte-Kolonne (Equipment Column). [1]

5 May 43: Btl. just being formed at Pleskau (Pskov) by Oberquartiermeister/Luftflotte 1 for construction work on Pskov-South and Pskov-West airfields with a German cadre of 5 officers and 35 men. Initially designated Lw.-Bau-Btl. (Hiwi) Pleskau. [2]
1 Feb 44: still located at Pskov (strength 400). [3]
Jul 44: Btl. now at Schaulen (Šiauliai)/Lithuania. [4]
6 Jul 44: the Battalion’s designation was changed from (Hiwi) to (Lett.) when it changed to all Latvian volunteer labourers. [5]
11 Sep 44: those elements of the Btl. attached to 5.Panzer-Div. In Latvia ordered relieved this date and transferred to Gerdauen airfield (SE of Königsburg) in East Prussia for construction work. [6]
1945: main body of the Btl. in Kurland (Courland)/Latvia. [7]
