Formation and History
Formed c. 15 February 1940 as a headquarters and Stab (staff) to command attached Luftwaffe Bau (construction) units. Place of formation not found, but almost certainly in Luftgau VII (South-Central Germany, i.e., Bavaria). In summer 1940, it was disbanded and immediately re-established using the HQ and Stab of Luftwaffen-Bau-Rgt. 5/VII. [1]
Jan 41: Stab possibly in the Metz area in Eastern France. [2]
18 Feb 41: Stab now located in the area of Luftgaukommando Westfrankreich. [3]
Mid-1941: ordered East to support the invasion of the USSR.
27 Nov 41: Stab in Königsberg/East Prussia subordinate to Luftwaffen-Baubrigade III. [4]
Jan 42 – Dec 42: listed as operating in Latvia and remaining there during the first half of 1943.[5]
Mid-1943: Stab returned to Germany and disbanded at Memmingen. [6]
