Formation. (Nov 1942)
Formed approximately mid-November 1942 at Fp. Soltsy/36 km N of Dno on the northern sector of the Russian Front (ex-Aufkl.St. 1.(H)/13). Equipped with Henschel Hs 126 reconnaissance types.[1]
North Russia. (Nov 42 - Mar 44)
26.1.43: at Soltsy under Nahaufklärungsgruppe 11.
23.2.43: Hs 126 shot up by fighters NE of Staraya Russa, 35%, Oblt. Dr. Rudolf Schutz (observer) KIA.
1.3.43: Staffel reported 9 x Hs 126 B-1 on strength.
15.3.43: Hs 126 shot down by a fighter S of Staraya Russa, 100%, 2 WIA.
16.3.43: Hs 126 damaged undercarriage landing at Fp. Dno, 20%.
3.5.43: Hs 126 damaged taxiing at Fp. Soltsy, 25%.
9.5.43: Hs 126 shot down by a fighter over Fp. Staraya Russa, 100%, Staka Hptm. Münch (observer) + 1 KIA.
26.5.43: still based at Soltsy under NAGr. 11.
4.6.43: Hs 126 B-1 shot down by ground fire over Mal-Bereskabk, 100%, Oblt. Heinz Werner (observer) + 1 WIA.
13.6.43: Fi 156 damaged taxiing at Utoshkino, 30%.
3.8.43: Hs 126 crash landed at Fp.Siverskaya, 60%.
18.9.43: Fi 156 crashed and burned at Fp. Soltsy, 100%, pilot injured.
10.43: reassigned to NAG 8 at the beginning of October following the departure of NAGr. 11 and transferred from Soltsy to Siverskaya.
8.10.43: (Lfl.1) - Hs 126B-1 shot down by a fighter m~ of Novgorod at the north end of Lake limen, 85%, Staka Hptm. v. Bally WIA and 1 KIA.
26.10.43: at Fp. Siverskaya under NAGr. 8.
27.10.43: Hs 126 B-1 force landed at Fp. Zhary/SE of Leningrad due to engine failure.
5.11.43: Hs 126 B-1 force landed at Dryashino due to engine failure, 80%.
1.12.43: Staffel reported 9 x Hs 126 B-1 on strength.
12.12.43: Hs 126 B-1 shot up in air battle over Ulyanovka, 35%.
15.12.43: crew member WIA by fire from an enemy aircraft near Nevel.
16.12.43: Hs 126 B-1 shot down by a fighter north of Grinki, 80%, Oblt. Rolf Löffler (observer) WIA and 1 KIA.
26.12.43: Staffel still listed as based at Siverskaya under NAGr. 8.
25.1.44: transferred with NAGr. 8 from Siverskaya south to Fp. Luga-Gostkino following the successful Soviet offensive to break out of the perimeter surrounding Leningrad.
2.44: withdrawn from operations for conversion to the Messerschmitt Bf 109G single-seat reconnaissance type.
1.3.44: renamed 1./NAGr. 8 on or about 1 March 1944 (Feldpost number change entered 3 March 1944) at Herzogenaurach/Bavaria.
