Schleppschwarm Afrika
Code: ?
Formed September 1941 at Hildesheim as a provisional Go 242 glider unit for North Africa, it was transferred to Athens-Eleusis in Greece and began cargo flights to Derna/Libya in October and flights within Libya to airfields at Benghazi, Castel Benito and Temet. On 18 November 1941, the British launched their "Crusader" offensive, and within a few weeks had advanced so far to the west that German glider flights from Greece could no longer be made. The unit was disbanded in December. No additional information has been found. [1]
