Seenotbereichskommando XIII

Formation and History. (Dec 42 - Aug 44)

Formed (new) December 1942 at Berre/20 km NW of Marseille in South France. Subordinated to Seenotdienstführer 3 (Paris). Exercised tactical control over sea rescue assets deployed in the south of France for operations in the western Mediterranean. Disbanded at Berre on 19 August 1944 immediately following the 15 August Allied invasion of southern France (Operation “Dragoon”).[1]
