Formation and History. (Jun 43 - Apr 44)
Formed (new) o/a 17 June 1943 at la Maddalena/12 km SW of Cagliari on Sardinia with branch sea rescue centers at Elmas and Olbia. Subordinated to Seenotdienstführer 2. Exercised tactical control over sea rescue assets deployed on and around Sardinia and Corsica. Transferred to Pola/Istria during the second half of September 1943 during the German evacuation of Sardinia, and from there controlled sea rescue operations in the northern Adriatic. Disbanded at Pola at the end of February or beginning of March 1944.[1]
