Seenotflottille 20

Formation and History. (Aug 44 - May 45)

Ordered formed 19 August 1944 at Verona/NE Italy by renaming Seenotflottille 10. Subordinated to Seenotgruppe 20. The Flottille’s Führer, Hptm. Gabbert, was killed in fall 1944 during a rescue attempt. On 20 March 1945 the Flottille’s Stab was still at Verona with a Seenotkdo. (mot) 1 at Porti Garibaldi/NE Italy and Seenotkdo. (mot) 2 at Savona/NW Italy. Surrendered 29 April 1945 on capitulation of German forces in Italy.[1]
