Seenotgruppe (L) Norderney
Formation and History. (1939/40? - Jan 42)
Existence questionable - may have been formed in fall 1939 or early 1940 at Norderney in the West Frisian Islands to handle sea rescue tasks along the northwest coast of Germany. But it is far more likely that this is just an informal name for the Seenotgruppe d. Lw., or perhaps the operational component thereof. All or part of it was used to form Seenotdienstführer Mitte in January 1942.[1]
