Seenotgruppe 70

Formation and History. (Aug 44 - Oct 44)

Ordered formed 19 August 1944 at Athens/Phaleron in Greece with a Stab, Seenotstaffel 70 and Seenotflottille 70 by renaming Seenotbereichskdo. XI. Subordinated to Lw.Kdo. Südost. Responsible for sea rescue operations in the Aegean area. Departed Athens for Salonika in mid-October as German forces began evacuating Greece, and then left Salonika on 23 October for Vienna where the Stab is believed to have been disbanded in December 1944.[1]
