Formation and History. (1943 - Aug 44)
Formed (new) during (September?) 1943 at Port Vendres on the French-Spanish border. Subordinated to Seenotbereichskdo. XIII (Berre/S France). Directed sea rescue operations in the northwest Mediterranean area. The sea rescue center and seaplane base at Port Vendres was reportedly destroyed in an air attack, probably during August 1944 in conjunction with the Allied invasion of South France on 15 August. Ordered disbanded on 19 August 1944.[1]
