Seenotzentrale (L) ostw. Ostsee

Formation and History. (Jun 41 - Nov 41)

Formed (new) 5 June 1941 at Pillau in East Prussia. Responsible for air-sea rescue operations in the eastern Baltic in conjunction with the attack on the Soviet Union beginning 22 June 1941. Moved forward to Riga/Latvia around mid-July. Transferred to Sicily at the end of October or beginning of November 1941 and renamed Seenotbereichskdo. (L) (10) for X. Fliegerkorps.[1]
