Seenotzentrale (L) z.b.V. VIII. Fliegerkorps

Formation and History. (Feb 41 - Apr 41)

Formed o/a February 1941 at Varna/Bulgaria to provide air-sea rescue services to VIII. Fliegerkorps, which was gradually moving into the Balkans from the West in preparation for the forthcoming campaign into Greece and Yugoslavia. Moved in April from Varna to Plovdiv/Bulgaria and then to Salonika-Mikra on 10 April and Athens-Phaleron on 7 May with 3 x Ju 52, 2 x Fw 58 and 3 x Do 24. Renamed Seenotzentrale (L) Aegaeisches Meer during the last week of April.[1]
