Sonderstaffel (G.S.) 22
Code: ?
FpN:
L 23 579 (*June 1941. Spring 1942 renamed 3/KGzbV 2).
History
Formed June 1941 in Leipheim for assignment to Luftflotte 2 in Central Russia. It left Germany in July and deployed to the airfield at Orsha soon after it was in German hands. From there it flew frequent supply missions into Shatalovka, Vyazma, and other airfields to the east of Smolensk, bringing fuel forward to the Panzer divisions that were advancing toward Moscow. Bad flying weather and muddy conditions forced it to depart Orsha for Leipheim in November. [1]
