Formation (May 1943)

Formed May 1943 at Constanta/Romania (ex-Stab/Aufkl.Gr.125). Responsible for reconnaissance operations over the western Black Sea area.[1]


South Russia - Black Sea (June 1943 – Sep 1944)

8.6.43: Stab reported a single Blohm und Voss BV 138 flying boat assigned to it. [2]

1943-44: Stab operated under Seefliegerführer Schwarzes Meer/Luftflotte 4.[3]

25.8.44: with the Romanian coup and change of sides on 23 August, the Stab was transferred from Constanta-Mamaia to Salonika/Greece where it was ordered to take charge of convoy security duties in the Aegean Sea. But shortly after arriving, Luftwaffenkommando Südost decided it was not needed.[4]

5.9.44: renamed Stab IV./ZG 26 and ordered to transfer immediately to Norway.[5]
