Formation. (May - Jun 41)

No information found in the surviving primary documents as to exact date and place of formation, but a published history says it was formed in April 1941 at Posen (Poznań/W Poland) for the forthcoming attack on Russia. [1]


Central Russia. (Jun 41 - Sep 43)

4 Jun 41: Fw 58 C-2 crashed near Posen (Poznań)/W Poland, 80%.[2]

22 Jun 41: 2 Fw 58s bombed on the ground at Biała Podlaska/158 km E of Warsaw, 100% and 20%, 1 WIA.

17 Jul 41: Fi 156 returned to Fp. Orsha shot up, 35%.

25 Jul 41: Fi 156 crashed at Fp. Shatalovka/55 km SE of Smolensk due to pilot error, 80%, Gen.Maj. Martin Fiebig, Nahkampfführer II. Fliegerkorps, and one other injured.

27 Jul 41: at Fp. Shatalovka.[3]

31 Jul 41: Fw 58 (KO+NF) to remain overnight at Fp. Borisov.[4]

11 Aug 41: Ar 66 crash landed at Fp. Shatalovka, 20%.

12 Aug 41: based at Fp. Shatalovka-West and provided liaison support to Stab/II. Fliegerkorps.[5]

20 Sep 41: Fw 58 accidently shot down by German Flak at Fp. Konotop, 100%, 1 KIA.

12 Oct 41: Fw 58 shot up by a fighter in the vicinity of Fp. Orel, 30%.

21 Oct 41: at Orel attached to Luftflotte 2.[6]

Nov 41 – May 42: transferred to Germany and disbanded, with assets returned to the schools. Re-established c. April 1942 for assignment in Central Russia.[7]

16 Aug 42: back at the Front and based at Smolensk-Nord. [8]

26 Aug 42: now at Smolensk-Süd. [9]

23 Feb 43: Fi 156 “Trop” damaged taxiing at Fp. Smolensk, 15%.

29 Apr 43: Fi 156 crash landed at Staraya Karantin (not located), 25%.

29 May 43: Fi 156 crash landed at Purdno (not located).

Sep 43: disbanded. Feldpost number deleted on 5 Oct 43.[10]
