Formation. (Apr-May 41)

No information as to exact date and place of formation found in the primary documents, although a published source states that it was formed at Jüterbog in April 1941. [1]


South Russia and Sicily. (Jun 41 - Aug 43)

27 Jul 41: Kl 35D (W.Nr. 1990) crashed near Kropka (not located), 95%, 1 killed.[2]

6 Sep 41: at Shatalovka on the Central Sector of the Front in Russia, 2 men belonging to the Staffel WIA in bomb explosion. [3]

1 Oct 41: in South Russia.

Nov 41 – May 42: probably transferred to Germany for an extended rest and refit before being inactivated in Dec 41.[4]

25 Apr 42: reactivated in Germany.[5]

10 May 42: ordered from Germany to Kharkov in Russia.

28 Jun 42: 3 aircraft damaged taxiing at Kharkov: W 34 @ 30%, Fi 156 @ 60%, Fi 156 @ 10%.

Jul 42: ordered to the Mediterranean theater.[6]

Jan 43: Sicily assigned to Stab/II. Fliegerkorps.[7]

5 Apr 43: Fw 58 (W.Nr. 3662) bombed on the ground at Fp. Trapani/W Sicily, 100%. [8]

14 May 43: at Reggio di Calabria - a Do 17Z belonging to it was bombed on the ground at Alghero/Sardinia and burned out.[9]

17-21 Jun 43: several take-off and landing accidents at Ussana/18 km north of Cagliari in south Sardinia.

18 Jun 43: Fi 156 shot down by a fighter north of Oristano/Sardinia, 100%, pilot WIA.

22 Jun 43: Sicily assigned to Stab/II. Fliegerkorps.[10]

10 Aug 43: Fi 156 force landed at Ceccano/80 km SE of Rome, 75%.

28 Aug 43: disbanded on or about this date.[11]
