Formation (May 1943)

Formed May 1943 at Constanta-Mamaia/Romania (ex-Aufkl.St. 1.(F)/125) with Blohm und Voss BV 138 flying boats.[1]



South Russia - Black Sea (May 1943 – Sep 1944)

25.5.43: had just arrived at Constanta-Mamaia with 9 BV 138s - Staffel notified that it would begin receiving 3 Arado Ar 196 floatplanes in June.[2]

24.6.43: Staffel ordered to transfer immediately to Sevastopol/Crimea.[3]

3.7.43: (Lf1l.4) - BV 138 destroyed in a depth charge explosion at Sevastopol, 100%, 4 WIA and 1 MIA.

3.7.43: (Lf1.4) - Ar 196 crashed at Sevastopol, 100%.

1.8.43: (Lf1.4) - Ar 196 force landed near Sevastopol due to engine trouble, 100%, 2 injured.

30.8.43: At Sevastopol.[4]

6.10.43: (Lf1.4) - BV 138 (7R+HH) shot down by AA-fire near Yalta/Crimea, 100%, Hptm. Hans Römer + 4 MIA.

2.44: Sevastopol.[5]

14.4.44: Staffel's non-flying component ordered to transfer to Constanta-Mamaia this date, while the aircraft and crews were to remain at Sevastopol.[6]

30.4.44: Aircraft and crews transferred to Varna/Bulgaria o/a this date as Soviet forces closed on Sevastopol.[7]

1.7.44: Transferred from Varna to Constanta-Mamaia o/a this date. [8]

25.8.44: Transferred from Constanta-Mamaia to Salonika/Greece as a result of Romania's change of sides - plans called for the Staffel to be used for convoy escort and cover in the Aegean Sea. [9]

5.9.44: No longer needed following the German decision to evacuate Greece and the Aegean, Staffel disbanded after turning over all remaining aircraft to 3./Seeaufkl.Gr.125). [10]Staffel's Feldpost number deleted 28.10.44. [11]
