Auffangstab 1. Fallschirm-Armee

(Collection and Processing Staff 1st Parachute Army)

Kommandeur:

Oberst Theodor Greve (Sep 44 - Apr 45?)

Gen.Maj. Hans-Detlev Herhudt von Rohden (Apr 45 - May 45)

Formation and History. (Sep 44 - May 45)

Formed o/a September 1944 to roundup and process stragglers and other paratroops separated from their units in the chaotic conditions that existed following the German withdrawal from France and Belgium at the end of August 1944. More of the same occurred from March 1945 as the Allies began their final offensive into Germany and overran many units of the 1st Parachute Army in Holland. It is unclear whether or not there was a break in the Auffangstab’s activity during the winter of 1944-45.
