1st Formation

Formed 1 April 1936 at Prenzlau/Brandenburg (new) with Heinkel He 45s and He 70s, which were replaced in part with Dornier Do 17Fs in 1937. Renamed 2.(F)/Aufkl.Gr.22 on 1 October 1937.[1]

2nd Formation

Formed 1 November 1938 at Goslar/Lower Saxony (new) with Dornier Do 17Fs, which were replaced with Do 17Ps in early 1939 or at least the process of replacement had begun. These plans were changed in summer 1939 and the Staffel converted to the Heinkel He 111.[1]

Ordered to be disbanded in Mar 1945 – actually disbanded Apr 1945.
